Expression & Writing

Writing, for me, started in a couple of different places. There was writing to understand my own internal structures and the narratives I carried, and alongside it, the more academic kind of writing, where I would explore an idea or try to make sense of a concept. Over time, the line between the two has become less clear, and I find myself slipping in and out of both.
I like following a thought or an idea and seeing where it goes. Sometimes I know quite clearly what I want to say before I begin. Other times, I don't, and I try to trust the words a little and see where they take me.

Trains

I think of much of what I share on Trains of Thought as phenomenological writing. Not because I write about phenomenology, but because these pieces begin somewhere within my own subjective experience of being in the world.
Putting them out there is also a way of letting that experience be met by someone else. The writing comes from where I am, but you get to meet it from where you are, and decide for yourself what, if anything, resonates.
